"One day / I know / there'll be a place / Called Home "(PJ Harvey)

Film dated 1989 drawn from the opera play "Steel Magnolias " by Robert Harling, directed for the screen by the former choreographer Herbert Ross (choreography " Funny Girl") and scripted by the same Harling. Set in a small town in Louisiana is a feature film that tells the strong link between six women, different age and character, but similar in strength of mind and joined by a complicity that goes beyond mere knowledge friendly. Their relationship is challenged by sickness and death.
The primary meeting point for these six Steel Magnolias is the small salon run by one of them, Truvy Jones, played by Dolly Parton. At the beginning the film is introduced in this small community to the sixth female character to Annelle, played by Daryl Hannah, a young and confused girl just moved in the district, who immediately becomes an assistant to Truvy and part of this circle of women.
The other protagonists are eccentric Ousier Boudreaux (Shirley MacLaine the amazing), the ironic Belcker Clairee (Olympia Dukakis), the maternal M 'Lynn Eatenton (Sally Field) and her daughter, the young Shelby (Julia Roberts).
